J. Martin Ford, PE

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Martin Ford has over 25 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for buildings. Prior to his tenure in the consulting engineering business, he worked as a Plant Engineer, first in an industrial facility and later at an acute care hospital. His experience in the plant engineering and facility management field gives him a unique perspective on the design of mechanical systems that meet the Owner’s needs. He has professional design and consulting experience in a variety of settings and for a variety of design professional and building owner clients. Martin has been an employee of the firm since 1989 and a principal of the firm since 1994.

Joe C. Powell, PE

Associate, Plumbing/Fire Protection Project Engineer

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Joe Powell has over 25 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for buildings, and has been in his current position with the company since 1991, Joe C. Powell and became an Associate in the firm in 2014. He has been involved heavily with commercial and institutional plumbing as well as fire protection since he joined the firm. He is experienced in all applications of domestic plumbing, fire protection, natural gas distribution, as well as specialized piping systems used in laboratory and healthcare applications.

J. Brian Messer, PE

HVAC Project Engineer


EDUCATION

BSME, Mechanical Engineering, University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL; 1991

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Brian joined Pruett Ford and Associates in February 2008 as an HVAC Project Engineer. Prior to joining the firm, Brian worked as a process engineer at J. Brian Messer General Chemical Plant in Augusta. Prior to that, Brian worked as a mechanical engineer at PM&A in Augusta, Georgia and earlier at Cheatwood, Hayes, Brown in Birmingham, Alabama. His experience includes design and project management of HVAC, plumbing and process systems for commercial, industrial and government facilities. Since joining the firm, Brian has been involved in a variety of HVAC projects including various hospital renovations, nursing home renovations, educational facilities, and central plant designs.

W. Grant Cartledge

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Grant joined the firm in 2008 as a HVAC Systems Project Engineer. Prior to that, he was a project engineer with RMF Engineering in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. During his time W. Grant Cartledge at Pruett Ford, Grant has been involved in a wide range of HVAC systems design, ranging from simple package systems to sophisticated Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) and 4-pipe hydronic systems. He is also experienced in LEED, Georgia Peach, and other sustainable building rating systems.



Daniel J. McAlister EIT

Professional Experience

Daniel joined Pruett Ford in December 2015 and brought with him 3 years of prior experience in HVAC system design as a design engineer at Newcomb Daniel J. McAlister & Boyd in Atlanta, Georgia. His experience includes extensive pumping system design and optimization, Autodesk Revit® 3D modeling, and chiller plant design. He has consulting experience with clients from a variety of different sectors including health care, higher education, and the airline industry.
